First and foremost, allow me to focus a spotlight on our nations capitol. Not only does it house the most powerful black family in the nation, it is the city of creativity. Personally, many of my favorite musical artists are from the coveted DMV area! From poets to lyricists, models to directors…..this area has the IT factor. Highlighted in this post, for a THIRD time ladies and gentlemen, is my friend, blogger and *fashionista of the future* Ms. Franky J! Second Chance…

Last night the BET Awards aired and was plagued with all the stars and stripes in today’s music. Overshadowing the bright lights and great performances, one moment greatly stood out. The Chris Brown MJ tribute was a second chance and redemption for the young singing and dancing star . After the issues that affected the lives of the parties involved and ours, CB finally took to the stage to regain his crown. After doing extreme justice to the world’s greatest performer, Michael Jackson, Chris Brown had the most sincere moment that America has seen in years. As this young man began to perform Man in the Mirror, his emotions took over as I’m sure he was simultaneously overwhelmed with previous relationship issues AND the warm embrace from the world, all at the same moment. Honestly, I felt so many emotions watching the clip… Chris, this is your second chance, which proves that God has a plan for us all and HE understands our situation as he allows us to make mistakes and dust ourselves off again.

Box Office: STY2 Homecoming

After diving head first into the HBCU culture of fraternities (and sororities) with the 2007 hit movie Stomp the Yard , the producers and directors have returned with a new cast to take over the yard one more time. Starring Pooch Hall, Teyana Taylor, and a cast of up-and-coming actors, this movie is slated to carry the torch and deliver another blockbuster hit. Unfortunately, Blockbuster is the ONLY place you’ll be picking up this new movie. I definitely don’t understand the reasoning behind this decision, especially based on the great trailor below, but this movie will not grace the silver screen at ANY movie theater.
